What We Do
We answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the public who are reporting a crime and need police assistance.

We quickly and accurately obtain all the information needed to assist the police in responding to the request for help.

Using state-of-the-art radio and computer technology, we dispatch our police officer to the scene.

We function like an orchestra conductor responding to calls, coordinating police officers, and finding help when and where it is needed.

Must Haves

  • You have Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident status in Canada
  • You have resided (been physically) in Canada for last 5 years.
  • You have a Canadian high school diploma or or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma.
  • You are proficient in English

Note: 9-1-1 Police Dispatchers are designated a safety-sensitive position and employees must abide by the RCMP Workplace Substance Use Policy which includes the use of cannabis.


If offered employment with the RMCP, you will need to attest that you will not use cannabis 28 days prior to the start date of employment and you will be compliant and follow the Substance Use Policy for safety-sensitive positions during the course of your employment with the RCMP.
