  • Job Summary: As a Quality Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and leadership to the plant, contributing to meet requirements for safety, quality, environment, cost, and production performance. In addition, you will assist with delivering and reporting of capital projects.

    Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing, leadership, or quality experience in the metals/mining industry.
  • Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years ' experience of Quality Engineering experience in heavy/metal/mining/chemical industry
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience of Project Management
  • Basic understanding of Extrusion metallurgy
  • Mathematical proficiency with a large emphasis in process and manufacturing statistics – SPC, Capability, and GRandR.
  • Knowledge and a background in control logic preferred
  • Experience with fabrication or industrial painting.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • VBA (Intermediate Level)
  • Read and correct PFD and P&ID (Intermediate Level)
  • Use of AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Able to work in extreme heat or cold conditions.
  • Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operational support in troubleshooting extrusion processes
  • Work directly with Quality Leads, Extrusion Supervisors and Operators in defining, implementing & sustaining process improvements
  • Assist with leading projects that improve efficiency and quality of the plant. Run-to-Recipe Improvement project Production Downtime Improvement project Scrap Improvement project Develops SPC tools and works to manage the output response to special cause variation.
  • Review data sets from historical data and SQL query to generate and implement recommendations
  • Utilize project management tools to ensure timely delivery of projects within scope and budget.
  • Identify and participate in the identification and reduction of ergonomic risks.
  • Perform system checks to ensure established system designs are functioning and being applied as designed.
  • Develop systems to support departmental and plant goals as defined in the strategic plans.
  • Work with internal and external engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors to complete assigned projects safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Trains / Coaches Shop Floor Personnel: Supports learning organization initiative through daily teaching / coaching on the shop floor. Imparts technical knowledge of the process and reactionary logic based on process deviation observation.
  • Supports Customer Claim Resolution: Supports internal investigation of customer claims and complaints.
  • Supports Product Dispositioning: Works with TSE and Process Technicians to ensure held material is dispositioned appropriately. Provides direction to the techs.
  • Engages in Benchmarking: Works with counterparts across the organization to benchmark and standardize best practices. Works to define True North performance levels for KPIs at each unit.
  • Compliance & Ethical Behavior: Demonstrated high standard for excellence and core belief in quality compliance, accuracy in reporting and ethical behavior within a manufacturing environment (laboratories, in particular). Must be capable of coaching.
