ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Financial Reporting and Budgeting Team as a Financial Reporting and Budgeting Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting and Budgeting, the primary purpose of the Financial Reporting and Budgeting Coordinator is to assist in the development of budgets and perform functions related to funding, accounting, reporting, program costing and forecasting for the departments and ministries of MNBC.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of MNBC's Ministry and Department budgets, operating, capital and special purpose funds, and perform functions related to funding, accounting, reporting, program costing and forecasting.
  • Preparation of the Ministry and Department reporting including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports and reconciliations for various ministries and departments.
  • Monitors and analyzes operating and capital expenditures, reviews reports, budgetary variances and prepares regular capital progress reports.
  • Monitors funding agreements and receivables.
  • Assists in the compilation, coordination, and distribution of budget packages to stakeholders and partners.
  • Prepares and analyzes budget scenarios and variances.
  • Prepares allocation spreadsheets including inputting and analyzing data.
  • Performs reconciliations and analysis of various accounts.
  • Maintains the general ledger chart of accounts.
  • Maintains the integrity and maintenance of accounting records.
  • Prepares and processes journal entries.
  • Provide assistance, training and support to users of MNBC's reporting and accounting systems.
  • Works with MNBC ministry and department staff to answer questions and problemsolve to rectify accounting and reporting issues.
  • Supports the year end annual audit process.
  • Participates in special projects within finance.
  • Ensure compliance with MNBC policies and procedures.
  • Assist with yearend audit preparations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Degree or diploma in the field of Financial Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or Commerce and eligible for entry into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP). A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be considered.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of recent (within the past 4 years) related experience leading and conducting audits related to the evaluation of financial, operational and information system internal controls.
  • Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in BC.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lead, problemsolve and utilize teambuilding skills.
  • Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with mínimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software required by the role.

OTHER COMMENTS

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC.
  • There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
