Primary Responsibilities:


  • Partners with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics, in partnership with the HR group, to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains indepth knowledge of local employment laws and regulations related to daytoday management of employee to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provides daytoday performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Identifies training needs for employees and managers.
  • Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Responsible for the administration of STD and WSIB claims; works with management and employees on returntowork programs.
  • Management and Administration of HRIS (UltiPro)
  • Designated Official for Canadian Controlled Goods Program
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Post secondary education in Human Resources Management with 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with full cycle recruiting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS (UltiPro)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment and readily adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employmentrelated laws and regulations.
