POSITION OVERVIEW:


As a Project Manager, you will be overall responsible of the entire aspect of a project in the industrial or hydroelectric market, reporting to offsite management.

Project managers directly contribute to the company's bottom-line success by managing and leading teams to effectively deliver projects. Make an impact as you see projects through from the early stages to successful completion.

The Project Manager is responsible for directing and leading project teams, determining and driving project schedules and budget and representing Ganotec with clients and subcontractors.

You will be responsible for directing and supervising the work of project administration, construction manager, project superintendents, and engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain effective relationships with owners, subcontractors, etc.

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada.

Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls.

We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Be responsible for ensuring the project meets or exceeds its financial objectives, by overseeing and monitoring each stage of the development.
  • Coordinates daily/weekly meetings with the construction manager, area superintendents and project engineers to develop means and methods, schedule contracting needs and long lead delivery times.
  • Manage all field operations and work sequence in conjunction with the Construction Manager.
  • Review project estimate or plan to determine estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
  • Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Also, review, approve and negotiate change orders.
  • Anticipate project needs with sufficient leadtime to avoid delay of production Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of the project, work closely with the HR team to manage the relationship with staff and craft.
  • Form and lead an effective project management team, define, and delegate management responsibilities, and set goals.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
  • Be an effective leader, communicate with department leads regarding work scopes.
  • Ensure construction manager and project superintendents understand and execute the work as required.
  • Ensure safety, quality and production is maintained.
  • Responsible for project closeout. Secure loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Degree or diploma in a construction/engineering related field, or a related combination of training and experience.
  • 10+ years of construction and/or project management experience required in the industrial or hydroelectric market.
  • Familiar with technical drawings systems and planning & reporting systems.
  • Ability to work with and manage unionized workers or subcontractors.
  • Communication excellent oral presentation and written skills.
  • Goaloriented able to set goals and achieve them.
  • Interpersonal able to work well and persuade people at all organization levels.
