The
Research Impact Analyst will work closely with the Manager, Research Analytics and other team members within UHN Research Solutions and Services.

Together, they will provide data, analyses, and tools to support strategic decisions and improve research impact at UHN.


Duties:


  • Gathering, analyzing, interpreting and reporting research performance data from publiclyavailable, thirdparty or internal data repositories. These data types include those related to research publications (e.g., bibliometric analyses), research funding (e.g., peerreviewed and nonpeerreviewed) and other measures of research productivity as required.
  • Develop and maintain internal libraries of measured data to consistently track research performance over time.
  • Support the development and maintenance of tools and resources to enable internal stakeholders to access tailored research performance data about the organization and its institutes/programs.
  • Maintaining the integrity of data in the Research Personnel Database and support special projects related to research performance.

Qualifications:


REQUIRED:


  • At least a Master's degree in health, biomedical sciences or biomedical engineering
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with large and complex data sets is required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in research methodologies is required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience extracting, analyzing and interpreting data from bibliometric databases (e.g., Web of Science, Scopus) is required.
  • Knowledge of bibliometrics and other research impact measures
  • Demonstrated experience with bibliometrics data sources that have citation tracking capabilities (e.g. Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, altmetrics, patent databases)
  • Demonstrated experience with mathematical methods associated with metrics
  • Demonstrated skills with data management, manipulation, interpretation and analysis
  • Strong attention to details

ASSETS:


  • Knowledge of and/or experience with research metrics tools such as InCites and SciVal
  • Knowledge of issues related to researcher identification and experience using researcher profiling systems (e.g. Researcher ID, ORCID)
  • Information analysis and synthesis experience
  • Visual report and dashboard creation experience
  • Knowledge of metrics and related issues for stakeholders ranging from individual researchers up to and including institutions
  • Understanding of the issues related to appropriate use of bibliometrics tools, an awareness of the potential misuse of these tools and misinterpretation of the results
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic and derivative metrics (publication counts, citation counts, hindex, journal or discipline normalized metrics, other index metrics)
  • Good understanding of citation analysis and network analysis (rationales & methodologies & limitations)
  • Experience working as a research impact librarian
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to converse articulately with research administrators and faculty members
  • Excellent written and verbal skills for teaching, troubleshooting, procedural documentation and demons
