Position Summary


Reporting to the Manager, Education and Practice Supports, the primary role of the Program Manager, Knowledge Translation and Exchange (KTE) is to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of knowledge activities to support the OCFP's strategic plan.


The primary purpose of the role is to develop, implement and evaluate knowledge translation and mobilization activities in support of OCFP's education and practice support for family physicians.

Our goal is to provide family physicians with the information and tools they need to thrive in their practice and to elevate the role of family physicians.


Responsibilities:


Knowledge Translation Planning:

  • Develops OCFP's knowledge translation framework and standards for KTE products, tools, and resources.
  • Contributes to OCFP business plans and objectives as they relate to knowledge translation.
  • Works with members of the department to determine the most effective ways to mobilize new knowledge into reports, presentations/webinars, and online content aimed at a variety of information users, including but not limited to Education and Practice Supports, Communication, Policy and Advocacy and senior leadership.
  • Applies a project management approach in overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of all KTE products, resources, and tools.
  • Leads and supports other OCFP initiatives as assigned, to develop KTE, whether for operations, projects, or research.

Knowledge Translation Development:

  • Applies best practices in KTE to convert complex concepts, program models and evaluation findings into graphical and easytounderstand resources for a variety of communications vehicles, both print and digital, with a focus on resources for family physicians in a variety of settings (i.e., Primary Care Networks, Ontario Health Teams, payment models, etc.).
  • Conducts environmental scans and needs assessments to identify knowledge exchange gaps and opportunities within the primary care sector to inform practice support development.
  • Designs, organizes, and facilitates knowledge exchange events such as conferences, webinars, community forums and other engagement activities.
  • Tailors KTE and knowledge mobilization efforts for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Collaborates with OCFP team to write topicspecific summaries to support knowledge translation for a wide audience (e.g., ministry guidance, newsletters, factsheets, infographics).
  • Collaborates with OCFP's communication team on developing strategic communication for
KTE related items, when applicable (i.e., president's message, tools and resources website etc.

  • Collects, organize, analyze, and report on qualitative and quantitative feedback and evaluation data.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Proactively engages with members to understand and anticipate their needs for information.
  • Develops and maintains strong external partnership to ensure the relevance and quality of our knowledge products.
  • Works with other OCFP departments and partners to enable new, innovative modes of information dissemination, such as online forums, blogs, podcasts, social media, and infographics.
  • Acts as a representative for the department's activities involving knowledge translation, dissemination and evaluation activities (e.g., internal and external research collaborations)

Reporting Relationships:


  • This position reports to the Manager, Education and Practice Supports
  • This position has no direct reports.

Required Qualification

  • University degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or healthrelated field.
  • Certification in Adult Education or Knowledge Translation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience supporting marketing and communications initiatives, with at least 3 years emphasis on knowledge translation and evaluation in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of knowledge translation and exchange, such as knowledge synthesis, data visualization, product development, dissemination, exchange, management and evaluation.
