- Install telecommunications cable including terminations, splices and cross connects
- Troubleshoot Install and repair Fiber Optic cable in a variety of environments
- Troubleshoot and repair backbone telecommunications infrastructure within client premises
- Perform Aerial Communication Lineman tasks for Fiber Optic and Broadband Solution systems
- Work with Engineering and client departments to address fiber routing, pole and spacing issues and requirements
- Liaise with plant operators and/or contractors for installation and maintenance work to be carried out in communities
- Provide logistical support shipping telecommunication cable and hardware when and where needed including inventory tracking
- Installation of external and internal telecommunication cabling systems for connectivity to network equipment
- Modification and removal of existing fiber optic and/or structured cabling environments when required
- Installation, termination maintenance of UTP structured cabling systems including but not limited to CAT 5e / 6 cabling and cable panels following GN structured cabling guidelines
- Maintaining equipment and tools in proper working order
- Installation of structured cabling raceways, cable trays and outlets / wall jacks.
- Provide technical assistance and direction to contractors on all aspects of design, installation and maintenance while working on telecommunications infrastructure
- Perform daily duties in a safe manner: Other tasks may include running drops to demarc locations aerially and assisting with cleaning the storage yard
- Assist with loading of various materials onto trucks and/or trailers
- Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in the design, installation, and maintenance and splicing of outside and inside single and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
- A current Certified Fiber Optics Installer (CFOI) Fall Arrest and Poll Top Rescue certification.
- Class 3 drivers license w/air brakes and Telehandler operator certification
- Ability to read, analyze and create as built fiber maps, community blueprints, fiber optic layouts, internal building floor plans and electrical drawings
- Ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented
- Knowledge of outside plant material and tools
- Ability to operate light equipment and drive utility vehicle
- Ability to maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers always
- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions
- Ability to follow direction and ask questions when unsure
- Ability to lift, push or pull tools and equipment with weights up to 70lbs
- Experienced in the following tasks: New Cable Installs, Pole Transfers, Strand Building, Cable Hanging, Lashing, Make Readies, and Figure Eighting
- Ability to Climb up to 30 ft.
- Ability to continually work above ground, using safety equipment, in either a bucket truck or using safety belts on poles
- Able to contribute to the design and development of Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and related fiber optic infrastructures
- Experienced at upholding quality workmanship that meets industry standards
