Job Summary:

Responsible for enforcement of the City by-laws by interpreting the by-laws and communicating these to the general public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver bylaw specific information to the public, City staff, elected officials, industry specific members and other law enforcement staff.
Investigate complaints, collect evidence and perform followup investigations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Conduct thorough complaint investigations in order to achieve appropriate resolutions. When deemed necessary, take legal action in order to bring violators into conformity/compliance, providing professional testimony and evidence for court and tribunal hearings.
Perform detailed inspections, maintaining accurate and detailed records/logs, databases of inspections.
Review bylaws, operational procedures and policies, and recommend amendments, changes, etc.
Attend Court to deal with bylaw matters and provide testimony as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

Must have graduated from a recognized community college in discipline of law enforcement, security administration, criminal justice studies, or a bylaw related course/major. Municipal Law Enforcement Officer certification is preferred
35 years working experience in related discipline is preferred
Valid G driver's licence with access to a vehicle for work, compensation will be provided for mileage
Experience with Microsoft Office programs and appropriate City software.
Primarily on the road conducting inspections and general patrols. Exposed to various temperatures and weather conditions. Also time spent in office environment.

Hourly Rate/Salary:
$ $ 54.81
