Coach Driver
Coach Canada is looking for an energetic, safety-driven, and responsible driver to join our team.

The Coach Canada driver will report directly to the District Manager and is responsible for the physical possession of controlling and safely navigating a motorcoach as assigned by the Manager of Operations or Dispatcher.

The driver is responsible for the care of passengers, including their safety, security, and assisting them on and off the motorcoach.

The driver is responsible for all package shipments, luggage transported aboard and located inside the coach's luggage/storage bay areas. The driver will be accountable for collecting money from fare-paying passengers, accounting for all passenger tickets and collections. The driver will be responsible for the transport and discharging of all scheduled, chartered, tour, or sightseeing passengers. The driver will also be responsible for the transportation and delivery of any inter-office mail.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform their duties in a professional manner and work toward maintaining a safe, harmonious, and effective workplace.
  • Must report for duty wearing the Company approved uniform only.
  • Obtain, possess, and maintain a Commercial Drivers License, Class B, including a Passenger endorsement.
  • Drive a motorcoach of up to 45 feet in length and any other company for hire passenger or personal vehicles safely, efficiently, and courteously on all public highways and private property as directed, including cities and mountainous regions, through all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Maintain a driving record free of all major traffic citations, including no major at fault vehicle accidents.
  • Must adhere to operating schedules, ad hoc movements, and report at the required time.
  • Read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Complete all required paperwork legibly, neatly, and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in an initial Training Program that will be repeated annually that includes:
  • Customer service
  • Sensitivity training for handling passengers with special needs, such as, mobility, hearing, or sight challenges.
  • Use of wheelchair lifts and Qstraints
  • Certified in Standard First Aid and Adult/Child Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Emergency procedures
  • Radio protocols
  • Company linerun system
  • Participate in additional training when routes or procedures change.
  • Ability to follow procedures relating to requests for special bus movements changes of bus schedules and/or protocols.
  • Ability to multitask and should an incident/accident occur, report to Dispatch immediately to respond in a quick and decisive manner.
  • Experienced in working in an operation with direct customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and relationship skills, together with excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to manage and meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Must document, on a daily basis, a Driver's log detailing any operational issues that have an impact upon the safe and timely operation.
  • Ability to perform Pretrip inspection.
  • Assisting with wheelchair lift if needed.
  • Loading luggage into luggage compartment under the bus and carryon luggage into overhead compartment. (Apx lbs.)

Qualifications

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e. a Canadian Citizen, landed immigrant or valid work permit)
  • This position requires an enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude
  • Previous experience serving people of disability and current CPR and/or Standard First Aid certificates will be considered assets
  • Possess a Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Hold a valid, unrestricted Class 'BZ' Driver's license, or have a valid Class 'G' with the ability to obtain a Class 'BZ' license
  • Ability to provide a driver's abstract

  • Must pass the Ministry of Transportation Medical to qualify for a Class B Ontario Driver's License with a 'Z' air brake endorsement
  • Willing to work split shifts, night shifts and weekends shifts on a rotating basis (You must provide maximum flexibility to allow for 40 hours a week to be scheduled anytime, 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year)
  • Have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Be capable of meeting the physical demands of the job such as, sitting for prolonged periods of time; using extremity motion, such as reaching, gripping, push/pull of steering while, twisting and turning of neck; sensory/perceptual demands along with good concentration; visual acuity of 20/30 and colour vision deeme
