    Recognizing the importance of the very best workplace safety policy and procedures that ensure the safety of their entire municipal workforce, the Township of Langley is looking to attract an accomplished municipal executive as Manager, Health and Safety.

    As an integral part of the Human Resources team, this is an exempt position reporting to the Director, Human Resources.

    You are a recognized and skilled practitioner in the safety field, specifically holding a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), with at least five years related experience, ideally within a municipal setting.

    Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is preferred.

    You are well versed and knowledgeable in all aspects of WorkSafeBC and a specialist in workplace health and safety with specific emphasis on providing guidance and advice on the Township's OHS program.

    You will interpret and provide advice to managers, supervisors and employees in matters pertaining to the application of WorkSafeBC regulations.

    You possess extensive hands-on experience in designing and implementing safety programs, organizing, and conducting safety audits and field work, reviewing disability management initiatives and delivering safety related training to diverse work groups.

    You will have been an integral part of many corporate Health and Safety Committees in a unionized environment and have demonstrated your ability in providing advice, direction, and leadership in this arena as well as conducting accident investigations and follow up reporting.

    A demonstrated track record of working with a diverse group of employees concerning occupational health and safety is required.

    You are a perceptive, high-energy individual with the ability to establish sensitive and productive relationships with managers, union officials, employees, contractors and WorkSafeBC representatives.

    You are computer literate coupled with exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. You hold your employees accountable and are known for setting work objectives that are aggressive yet realistic. You are comfortable working with smaller teams in a hands-on work environment.
