POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is entry level aquatic work with responsibility for the enforcement of rules and safety of water slide users at an indoor aquatic facility.

The position performs minor cleaning maintenance duties, leads aquatics games and activities, assists with setting up program equipment and supplies; and supports minor first aid emergencies.

The work is performed under general supervision of a superior who evaluates performance in terms of efficiency and quality of service provided to the public and is evaluated by a supervisor in terms of the effectiveness of attendant and customer relations work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Grade 10 and some related experience working with the public; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Some knowledge and familiarity with aquatics programs.
Ability to make decisions and enforce rules and regulations in a confident manner.
Ability to communicate effectively in a positive and tactful manner.
Ability to be creative and lead games for a variety of age groups and abilities.
Ability to communicate to other aquatic staff in emergency situations.
Ability to provide safe operation of the water slide and monitor the flow of riders.
Ability to perform duties for extended periods of time.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES

Bronze Cross (current within 2 years)
Current Standard First Aid with CPR C & Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

HOURS OF WORK
This is an auxiliary position with no ongoing regular schedule of hours.
