Job Summary:
The Accounting Assistant will report to Director of Finance / Controller. They will perform accounting related tasks in respect to provincially and federally funded programs.
This includes assisting with A/R, A/P, producing reports and summaries, payroll and benefits administration, filing and organizing accounting documentation and issuing necessary receipts and cheques.
Duties:
- performs accounts payable and accounts receivable duties;
- prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports and cash flows;
- performs payroll and benefits related duties;
- assists with the allocation of expenses to appropriate accounts;
- assists with issuing cheque requisitions for payment of staff travel expenses and related program expenses;
- assists with and prepares deposits;
- assists with and performs necessary account, bank and other reconciliations;
- issues donation receipts;
- assists the organization's directors with budgeting; and
- performs other assigned accounting related duties as required
Knowledge and Experience
- completed a diploma in accounting or related discipline supplemented by one year of accounting experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience;
- experience with payroll and benefits administration;
- knowledge and experience of CRM software is a definite asset;
- intermediate level knowledge of MS Office software (Excel, Word);
- experience with non-profit and fundraising (accounting) would be a definite asset;
- working towards CPA would be an asset; and
- clean criminal record.
