About this Job
The Recruitment Officer recruits and converts new students to both of Lakehead University's

campuses through various recruitment initiatives and events. Responsible for playing a lead role in the

coordination, planning, creation and implementation of a portfolio of strategic recruitment events and

programs. Additionally, the Recruitment Coordinator acts as an ambassador representing Lakehead in

a range of new student recruitment activities and events.


Job Duties

  • New Student Recruitment
  • Participates in and supports a comprehensive and coordinated undergraduate recruitment and conversion strategy, which includes connecting with high school, transfer and mature students Initiatives include, but are not limited to, in school visits in the fall and spring, career fairs, applicant receptions, open houses, special events, campus tours, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain close relationships with local and regional guidance counsellors, teachers, and staff along with college transfer counsellors, and maintains a comprehensive database for future communication and relationship management
  • Answer student inquiries regarding Lakehead University's offerings
  • Fosters positive relationships with faculty, staff, alumni, students and other relevant international stakeholders across all level of the institution in support of student recruitment efforts
  • Researches and develops entry strategies for new territories
  • Participates in the annual liaison training for all Lakehead undergraduate recruitment staff
  • Recruitment Event Coordination
  • Schedules and maintains communication with speakers, vendors, and participants; coordinates and monitors event timelines
  • Coordinates production and distribution of materials for guests/participants and distribution at events
  • Coordinates volunteers and recognition to volunteers for their contributions
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment events and develops strategies for improvement
  • Liaises closely with faculty and staff to facilitate communication with internal audiences in support of buy in and participation
  • New Prospect Student Management
  • Collect and utilize prospect information to report on the activities, successes and opportunities in recruitment on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Maintains accuracy of files and database information
  • Development of systems of providing Departments and Schools with prospect information to encourage early followup communications

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in a postsecondary setting in the field of student recruitment
- and marketing

  • Excellent communication and marketing skills
  • Proficiency in advanced levels of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and publishing programs
and laptop technology

  • Organizational skills and project/event management skills
  • Excellent judgement and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume, targetdriven environment; meet deadlines and
handle stressful working conditions

  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Possesses a creative mind
  • Good analytical skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in public speaking with the ability to create and deliver dynamic
presentations

  • Knowledge of emerging communication technologies (i.e., web development, ecommunications, social media)A valid Ontario driver's license and a willingness and ability to travel
