ISL is seeking a Junior Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Canmore Transportation team and play a key role in delivering high-quality, technically sound transportation projects. This position offers the opportunity to apply technical expertise both in the field and in the office where you will contribute to design and drafting through the project lifecycle and supporting construction inspection. You'll work collaboratively across disciplines in a supportive environment, while gaining hands‑on experience that connects design intent with real-world construction.

About the Role

This role reports to our Canmore Transportation Lead and is suited for a new graduate or technologist with 0-2 years of post‑graduation experience. In your first year performing this role you will:

• Provide support through the construction lifecycle for projects serving Bow Valley communities.
• Contribute to the preparation of cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and tender materials, including technical specifications.
• Take part in site visits, inspections and field reviews to ensure work meets quality standards and contractual obligations.
• Prepare and maintain construction monitoring records such as daily site reports and quantity tracking documentation.
• Assist with project close‑out activities, including compiling record drawings and final construction documentation.
• Produce construction drawings in accordance with project standards and design requirements.
• Produce Civil 3D corridor and surface models and drawing packages with coaching from senior staff.
• Collaborate on projects both locally and across ISL disciplines and offices.

Your cover letter should include:

• Your interest or connection to Canmore or the Bow Valley
• Your interest in gaining experience in both construction inspection and civil design and drafting

Your resume must display:

• Recent graduation, or upcoming graduation date, from a Diploma or Degree in Civil Design Technology, Civil Design and Drafting Technology and/or Civil Engineering
• Strong attention to detail, practical judgement, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings.
• Experience or exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D other Autodesk software.
• A collaborative, positive attitude with an eagerness to learn and develop skills with guidance from experienced team members.

Assets:

• Previous co‑op or summer experience in civil engineering or construction
• Field or construction experience of any type.
• Currently residing in the Bow Valley
