As a member of the Quality Team, the Calibration Technician is responsible for the set-up, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting or laboratory and on-line measuring equipment.

The Calibration Technician is also responsible for the development and verification of calibration data sets for raw, in-process and finished products.

Duties are performed through the use of equipment, tools, auditing techniques, inspection, and analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

In addition, the Calibration Technician provides support for HACCP, QSL, and Mass Balance programs.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine calibration verification of applicable instruments to identify and resolve any issues. Maintain all data records, reports and certificates pertaining to calibrations. Develop new calibrations and improve existing calibrations by collecting samples, performing routine laboratory analysis and reviewing test results.
  • Develop and maintain calibration, preventive maintenance, and equipment operation SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of FOSS equipment.
  • Analyze samples on Dry Matter, Butyrometer method and Protein Analyzer and update control chart.
  • Prepare samples to send R&D and third-party Lab for reference values.
  • Develop and maintain operational sampling programs and ensure operators are properly trained. Coordinate with production employees to ensure that operational maintenance programs for on-line equipment (FOSS soak, clean/zero preparation, etc) are being performed as per schedule.
  • Assist various departments in the investigation of product quality or yield issues related to the performance or accuracy of on-line equipment.
  • Organize the preventive maintenance program for laboratory and on-line equipment, including maintaining a reasonable inventory of spare parts and the necessary specialty tools.
  • Prepare and perform analytical proficiency testing on lab technicians. Review results and assist in developing and implementing any required corrective actions.

Education & Experience

  • College diploma or University degree in related field
  • Two (2) years' experience working in a dairy food lab

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with NIR and FTIR testing of dairy products
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Advanced level with standard office computer technology
  • Knowledge of HACCP, QSL and GMP policies and procedures

Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 3 months


Salary:
$32.60 per hour
