    Role and Responsibilities

    Using emerging technology and business trends, the System Architecture Specialist is leading the definition of the global architecture of the training devices to meet the requirements of the comprehensive integrated training solution.

    Working in collaboration with a network of system engineering specialists and domain experts, they are responsible for the architecture definition, costing and risk evaluation throughout all program phases.

    Starting at the capture and proposal phase, the System Architecture Specialist support the business development and proposal teams to define a strategic solution that will maximize our chance to win contracts. Once a contract is awarded, they will refine the solution and translate it into different engineering system components and lead the critical design review (CDR) of the complete architecture. Post CDR, the System Architecture Specialist will ensure the proposed technical solution is followed and is optimized to meet the customer's training requirement avoiding scope change and cost increase.

    The role we are offering you:

  • Support Business development and proposals team during the bid phase to define training device architecture.
  • Lead the design activities and act as the overall design authority during the project's lifecycle
  • Leverage CAE technologies and OEM capability to design training devices that support the customer's training need and CAE's business objectives.Analyze and interpret the training and device requirements and define a compliant solution in schedule, scope and cost.Gather information from our different engineering groups and create the architectural drawings of the training devices.Perform trade studies to identify optimal solutions, including the extent of re-use of existing equipment and designs, new design and third-party elements.Establish the project software architecture and its mapping onto the physical componentsIdentify risk and cost driving design issues, seeking original solutions that will minimize risk while optimizing costsDefine "how" the training system can be structured to comply with the Customer Training Requirements.Define solution leveraging the capabilities and technology available in the product catalogue
  • Perform and support the solution and cost review and all phases of the design review.
  • Analyze the system to ensure that it will meet the stated performance requirements and training outcomes (e.g., flight performance, stability, weight, power, timing, human factors, throughput, etc.).
  • Interface with architecture board to address any element that is considered non-standard solutions.
  • Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor or master's degree in engineering, Computer or Information Sciences.
  • A minimum of 8 years experience in design and development for the aerospace, simulation and training systems.
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering development processes.
  • Understanding of aircraft systems functionality, flight operation principles and flight regulation.
  • Experience in Software Architecture is a strong plus.
  • Business acumen – BD/Sales support, proposals, Execution.
  • Excellent oral & written communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in French is a strong plus.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance with access to NATO secret documents and adhere to ITAR requirements.
