Job Purpose
Reporting to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Regional Human Resources Director, this position functions as the Sheraton Ottawa Hotel's business leader of the Human Resources department.
Ensures the HR platform provides sustainable value to key stakeholders including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and development, compliance and workplace health and safety.
This is an on-site position.Duties & Responsibilities
- Implements and sustains Human Resources initiatives at the property level
- Serves as coach and expert of HR policies and processes
- Leads and participates in succession management and workforce planning
- Remains current and knowledgeable in the internal and external compensation and work competitive environments
- Leads the property's annual performance management and merit increase process for salaried employees
- Assists with the planning of the nonunion hourly employee total compensation strategy
- Proactively manages the talent pipeline both internally and externally
- Develops recruitment policies and strategies relating to hiring practices; consults with General Manger and Corporate Office Manager on compensation and benefits as per Corporate Guidelines
- Negotiates collective agreement with third parties on behalf of the organization based on budgets and parameters provided by Ownership
- Drives exceptional EES results through collaborative involvement and strategic planning
- Champions the brand's service vision for service delivery and ensures alignment amongst all departments
- Remains visible and interacts with employees on a regular basis ensuring employee engagement and morale is evaluated and maintained
- Participates in daily standup meetings and models desired service behaviors in all interactions with guests and team members.
- Incorporates GSS feedback as a component of recruiting, hiring and training with an emphasis on generating innovative ways to continually improve results
- Actively participates in the Annual Budget preparations
- Works with third party providers (union, training vendors, suppliers, legal) within established guidelines
- Leads and participates in health & safety meetings to ensure compliance with OHSA regulations
- Responsible for leading and managing WSIB incidents and the hotel's Early and Safety Return to Work program
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Postsecondary education, or graduate of an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration or related major
- Five+ years' experience in human resources management preferably in the hotel or related industry
- Technical expertise in computer software programs
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Computer/Office skills required
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
- hotel Human resources: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- HR certificate or equivalent work experience (preferred)
