Bechtel / Bantrel / Comtech is seeking a driven team player with a passion for managing risks on complex infrastructure mega-projects.


Bechtel, along with its sub-vendors Bantrel and Comtech, has been appointed as the Delivery Partner (DP) for the Ontario Line (OL) Project in Toronto, Canada.

The OL is a brand-new metro line serving some of Toronto's busiest districts and brings much needed additional connectivity and capacity to the city's public transport network.

The project scope includes the design, build, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new underground, surface and elevated track.

The OL Project is being delivered through three major Public Private Partnership (P3) contracts and multiple Early and Advanced Works (EAW) contracts.

The OL is planned to open for passenger service in 2031.

The DP, the customer Metrolinx and the Technical Advisor (TA) are working together as the Integrated Project Team (IPT) to manage the delivery of the project.


The Role:

The South Civil Risk Analyst is responsible for the implementation of the DP's project risk management of the contract.

The scope of work for the OL South Civil design-build-finance package includes, among others:

  • A six-kilometers tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Groundworks required to build the tunnels and stations; utility and conduit works to prepare for the Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) mechanical and electrical systems; guideway structures and facilities to prepare for the track structure to be installed by the RSSOM contractor.
  • One aboveground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
  • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
  • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).
The South Civil Risk Analyst reports to the South Civil DP Project Manager and OL DP Risk Manager.


Responsibilities:


  • Implementation of the OL-South Civils risk management process as defined in the OL Risk Management Plan.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate risk reviews.
  • Maintain, update the South Civil risk register in Active Risk Manager System (ARM).
  • Support in providing required information for performing QCRA/QSRA as established in the OL Risk Management Plan.
  • Provide monthend reports as established and required.
  • Engage with the OL risk management team for reporting, guidance, support, and sharing of the lessons learned.
  • Engage with South Civil PCo risk counterpart to ensure risk management activities are aligned with OL project requirements and capturing of risks transferred from South Civil PCo to the Contracting Authority.

Job Qualifications:


  • Relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Engineering, construction, business or finance degrees is desirable. Construction, project management or risk related qualifications is desirable.

Relevant experience:
over 6 years.

  • A general understanding of engineering and construction procedures, principles, and concepts. Familiarity with principles and terminology used for construction of metro (rail) projects is desirable.
  • Experience working with teams and stakeholders in the development and delivery of large infrastructure projects. Ability to communicate across different technical disciplines (e.g. engineering, construction, testing & commissioning).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Apps.
  • Working knowledge of Sword Active Risk Manager (ARM) or similar risk management software.
