    About the role

    We're looking for a Manager, Finance Data Management to join our growing team This position is a data management position within group finance and will be responsible for managing reference and master data across all finance systems.

    What you'll do here:

  • Work with the IT team to implement data strategies, governance programs, build data flows and develop conceptual data models.
  • Actively participate in large corporate IT projects as a data lead to provide input, recommendations, and high-level design data specifications
  • Responsible to build and implement the data management application roadmap (EDMCS) to continuously support business initiatives.
  • Responsible to build and implement a data lifecycle management (DLM) framework for reference and master data
  • Ability to maintain the conceptual and logical data models and facilitate the daily maintenance of finance data through EDMCS and integration of EDMCS to target applications
  • Should independently drive requirements and provide input into the design of EDMCS in terms of right data chain objects, workflow, maintenance views and required integrations
  • Decision making capability to support team activities planning Identify & implement process improvements to support projects.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments.
  • Ability to guide team members and conduct training sessions.
  • Conducts research and continuously reviews systems, processes, and practices to strengthen and improve governance, value and mitigate risk and support data analytics platforms and needs.
  • Ability to understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions
  • Communicate with data architects, business analysts, interfacing application teams & Business stakeholders and understand data requirements for consuming applications
  • Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models
  • Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments.
  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
  • What you bring to the table:

  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data management
  • Minimum 3 years managing people directly
  • Experience in accounting and accounting standards (IFRS) is an asset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Can learn quickly
  • Strong analytical skills, insight and discipline
  • Leadership skills, team player, independent and efficient
  • Can interact with a variety of people at all levels of the organization, including management and certain external contributors
  • Intermediate level working with Excel
  • Knowledge of P&C insurance industry an asset
  • Bilingual (French and English) Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.
