Stella's Place Assessment and Treatment Centre is the first comprehensive, integrated, community-based assessment and treatment centre in Canada for young adults (aged 16 to 29) experiencing mental health challenges.

Founded by concerned parent and philanthropist Donna Green in 2013, it now delivers a range of strength-based individual and low-barrier group counselling services.

Since its inception, it has served thousands of young adults in Ontario.


Stella's Place is privately funded and is unique in its approach to healing, which includes peer support and a co-creation model that includes young adults - a proven strategy for success.

A recently completed $14-million capital campaign has resulted in a state-of-the-art program facility in downtown Toronto, officially opening in the spring of 2023.

We are looking for a
Peer Initiatives Coordinator to join our team. This position will report directly to the Peer Initiatives Manager.

The Peer Initiatives Coordinator is an exciting opportunity to implement Stella's Place's clinical and recovery programming collaboratively. This role is central to the success of our programs.


Your primary focus will be overseeing all coaching, support, training, and development of the Peer Ambassador Program at Stella's Place and facilitating Community of Practice meetings.


Our Peer Ambassadors support the delivery of a range of programming at Stella's Place, including online and in-person co-facilitation of recovery groups and drop-in programming in both the virtual Cafe and in-house Cafe.

Programs on our menu of offerings have been co-designed by young adults and content experts and feature the voices of Peer Ambassadors.


You will be responsible for administrative duties related to the peer training programs and participants, and community and organizational development engagement.

You will work closely with and report to the Peer Initiatives Manager. You also will work in conjunction with other program managers. You will work from a strength-based perspective to develop, support, and evaluate integrated and peer-based initiatives.


As a Stella's Place employee, you will be expected to engage on committees actively, support agency-wide events and research activities, support the organization with speaking engagements and activities and build our organizational culture.


You are expected to collaborate with the organization to foster a workplace that embraces the diversity of experiences, opinions, and identities, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

Hybrid - 2-3 days at the office, 54 Wolseley Street, Toronto, ON M5T 1A5)

This full-time position works 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The occasional weekend and evening may be required.


Salary & Benefits:
$57,680 per annum


Stella's Place offers a generous health and vacation package, including comprehensive medical, dental and vision benefits, three weeks of vacation and 15 health days annually.

Vacation increases after one year of service.

This position aims to provide information, access, and intake services to young adults and their supporters.

You will work with young adults to identify and assess their needs; ensure they are connected with internal and external resources, and support young adults accessing our open spaces.


Responsibilities for this position include:


Training & Development

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of the peer support program at Stella's Place
  • Overseeing the promotion and enrollment of participants in the peer support training program
  • Identifying and providing learning opportunities for peer training and methods for ongoing peer training and development to participants in the peer training program
  • Working harmoniously with peers and professionals in various disciplines as well as other professional and nonprofessional people within the community
  • Developing and providing oversight to a peer support training program
  • Participating in the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of programming
  • Creating a monthly newsletter for young adult peer supporters
  • Providing leadership in the continued development of the integration of peer support programs
  • Participating in the evaluation of our recoverybased, young adultfocused peer model
  • Building and participating in partnerships, networks, and knowledge transfer to further the role of peer support in the mental health sector
  • Representing the organization at planning meetings, conferences and other multistakeholder events
