  • As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Providence Health Care must be fully vaccinated against COVID19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
  • Reporting to the Catheterization Laboratory Radiology Supervisor, performs established diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac labs under the direction of Cardiologists.

Education: Graduation from a recognized school of medical imaging, plus two (2) years' of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists(CAMRT)Certified.

Duties:
Performs diagnostic and interventional angiography procedures in the cardiac and vascular catheterization labs under the direction of Cardiologists.

Performs daily start-up and quality control procedures of the cardiac imaging equipment including the Gemnet System (Network) by following established procedures prior to the patient's arrival.

Prepares the work area for each procedure by setting up accessory equipment such as contrast media injector in conjunction with the Registered Nurse.

Communicates with patients, physicians and staff on topics such as explaining procedures, consent, allergies, etc.

Inputs, updates and annotates patient and procedural data by entering patient ID, supplies utilized, image sequence and procedures performed into the digital imaging system.

Provides instruction regarding procedures, equipment and techniques to staff trainees, student technologists and other staff as required.

Participates in the quality control of, and troubleshoots and reports any equipment malfunctions to Catheterization Laboratory Supervisor or service engineer.

Participates in staff meetings and assists with the updating of procedure manuals.
