    Description

    PURPOSE:

    The Logistics Specialist is responsible for ordering, distributing and managing the inventories of Direct Medical/Surgical supplies, in addition to addressing other supply needs when required. Reporting to the manager of Logistics, you support the on-going operations of the all assigned units including, CATH LAB, OR, SPD, Endoscopy, and other units as needed.

    DUTIES:

  • Responsible for carrying dedicated phone equipped with voice mail – to support all assigned units.
  • Work in conjunction with the buyers and unit staff, to ensure the continuity of supply.
  • Ordering and managing direct inventories for assigned units.
  • Retrieve all direct orders from Receiver and ensuring accuracy of paperwork and deliver/put away stock.
  • Complete stock rotation of all direct product within assigned units inclusive of the OR suites.
  • Responsible for the various cart inventories within assigned units and ensure readiness for staff to use.
  • Interface with Receiver on all inbound shipments as required.
  • Integrating new products / removal of discontinued supplies from use.
  • Investigating and implementing corrective action for all product recalls.
  • Responsible for accurate labelling of all stock inventories.
  • Assisting with other logistics functions including the warehouse as needed.
  • Following up on all backordered products.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Logistics/Distribution experience within the last 5 years
  • Valid driver's license in good standing with clean abstract.
  • Valid electric pallet jack certification is required (training & certification will be provided)
  • Experience working with a Materials Management system
  • Experience with Procurement and Distribution processes/Meditech
  • Proficient in excel spreadsheets
  • Basic math skills including number recognition.
  • KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY:

  • Work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations
  • Ability to be comfortable and willing to make decisions that will affect planned and unplanned surgical activities and their supporting departments
  • Proficiency within a Microsoft environment, with special emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Maintains successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of medical/surgical materiel and related Health Centre Operating Room supplies
  • Practical ability to perform key-in activities on a computer terminal and/or handheld system.
