Facilities Assistant - Entry Level
Location:
Edmonton, Alberta
Job Overview and Responsibilities:
To ensure that Bureau Veritas' operational facilities are maintained to ensure a healthy and safe work environment by meeting and exceeding company and laboratory standards.
Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
- Ensure all assigned Facility safety related items are address promptly
- Perform exterior building maintenance (E.g. snow removal, area cleanup, Hvac filter maintenance, Etc.)
- Perform routine maintenance within the building (e.g.
changing of light bulbs, equipment maintenance:
filter replacements, pump rebuilds, Etc.)
- Assist with monitoring of facility parameters and conditions
- Daily report and documentation of all activities within logbook and maintenance software
- Perform minor repairs and modifications (e.g. partitions, walls, doors, painting, plumbing)
- Perform safety inspections (E.g.
Fumehood, Hvac systems, and safety systems:
Eyewash/shower, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.)
- Act as a point of contact to contractors who are contracted for the purpose of facility maintenance as designed by the Facility Supervisor (E.g. Hvac, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- Working at height (Building roof, scissor lift, etc.)
- Provide support to the Facilities Supervisor as required
- Provide support to other departments as assigned or directed by the Facilities Supervisor or Manager
Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have:
- Education: High School Diploma
- 1 year of general maintenance or equivalent experience is preferred
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanically inclined expertise/skills
- Forklift, scissor lift, fall protection experience preferred
- Training will be provided
- Strong Computer skills
- Good timemanagement, communication, multitasking and priority setting skills
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented and solid record keeping skills
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted

Experience:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Willing to work overtime or be on call when necessary (including some weekends)
