What YOU Will Do


As the Insurance Director of in the Insurance & Surety team, you will play a key role in the strategy to analyze, execute and obtain appropriate insurance at the bidding stage.

You will also actively contribute to mitigating risks that could impact Pomerleau's long-term viability.


As the manager of the insurance team, you will be called upon to support the team in the development of their expertise in order to develop a high-performing and passionate team.

Reporting to the Senior Director - Insurance & Surety, your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing tender and contract documents to determine whether the insurance requirements requested by the client are adequate, and challenges them (verbally and in writing) if they are not;
  • Working with our customers, our broker, the legal team and project teams to identify solutions;
  • Implementing insurance for major projects;
  • Analyzing specific insurance policies once issued to ensure that they correspond to what was intended;
  • Advising senior management on risk management strategies and insurance issues on major projects;
  • Supporting and developing the insurance offering strategy and ensure its deployment.
  • Coordinating and influencing internal stakeholders, including project managers, legal, financial and operational teams and brokers, to assess risk exposures and develop strategies ;
  • Overseeing the timely renewal process for major project policies;
  • Analyzing and understanding corporate insurance policies (worksite, wrapup, E&O, marine, drone, automobile, equipment, etc.) to ensure they are complementary to major project policies;
  • Determining insurance requirements for subcontractors on major projects;
  • Working with our customers, broker, legal team and project teams to identify solutions;
  • Providing professional advice and ongoing training;
  • Proposing new ways of doing things to optimize processes and ensure a methodical approach to handling insurance files.
  • Acting as an expert and support your team in the management and coordination of insurance for each project.

What YOU Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business administration, or equivalent experience;
  • At least 7 years of experience in a similar position
  • At least 4 years of people management experience;
  • Ability to think strategically and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired results on schedule;
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software;
