The quest
As the keeper of the evidence laboratory, you will conduct various tests and assist forensic experts with evidence management.
- Follow HSE and Security guidelines and keep the laboratory & workshop clean, secure, and hazardfree. Administer storage of samples, evidence, and consumable, in a retrievable manner and maintain inventory.
- Keep all the tools, tackles, devices, equipment, and materials in pristine condition and in an organized manner. Maintain issue/return log records.
- Study operating manuals of all equipment, tools and devices and master their operation and maintenance. Disseminate this knowledge by training investigators ensuring its correct usage in a safe manner.
- Conduct workshop tasks including polishing, cutting, sampling, and coating during evidence and material examinations.
- Working closely with investigators, prepare and carryout various tests relating to electrical, mechanical, materials, and other types using a variety of tools, equipment, and devices. Write detailed test reports for investigators.
- Assist the investigators with their projects, in the laboratory and on the field. Prepare sketches, diagrams, wiring and assembly lines for investigation reports.
- Ensure that all equipment and tools are calibrated on or before due time. Maintain log of all such calibrations.
- Perform other adhoc tasks when needed or requested.
- A post secondary technical diploma (C.Tech/C.E.T.) in relevant discipline and/or combination of relevant education and experience.
- 25 years of experience of multidisciplinary technical tasks. Experience working on vehicles is an asset.
- Handson knowledge of applied general and industrial mechanics, typical failure mechanisms and types of testing with ability to use variety of test equipment and devices. Knowledge of electricity, mechanics and plumbing.
- A keen eye for detail, a sharp wit, and a sense of humor that can brighten up people around you.
