Job Summary:
The Journeyman Steamfitter is responsible for producing high-quality work with zero non-conformances, ensuring compliance with blueprints, drawings and specifications, and meeting work deadlines in a safe manner.
This role involves laying out, assembling, and installing various pipe systems, studying blueprints, measuring, cutting, and joining pipe sections, using testing equipment, and performing tasks like drilling, trimming, and filing.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Lay out, assemble, install, or maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, or related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, or industrial production or processing systems.
- Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings
- Join pipe sections, related equipment and secure in position
- Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks
- Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets.
- Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools
- Crosstrain and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
Job Qualifications:
- Pipe Fitter/Steamfitter journeyman by trade (Red Seal) 5 years/9000 hours
- Demonstrated ability to use various hand tools and operate an industrial powered fork truck.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting work orders and drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the position.

Internal shop staff, engineering and contractors to exchange information and problem solve
Effort (Physical & Sensory):
- Continuous standing (810 hours per day and up to 6 days a week)
- Regular walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, using fine motor skills; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Regular lifting and/or moving material (50 lb)
- Regular vision/sensory demands: close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- Be exposed to various environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, chemicals, odours, noise and vibration ( >80%)
- Operate machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment (5080%)
- Work at heights ( 80%)
