    Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Blast Preparation and Execution: Read and accurately interpret blasting diagrams and plans. Safely load blast holes with explosives under the guidance of the Drill & Blast Supervisor, and Lead Blaster. Connect detonation patterns with appropriate timing to ensure controlled and effective blasts. Execute blasting operations according to specified procedures.
  • Safety Compliance: Handle, store, and transport explosives and blasting accessories in compliance with legal and safety regulations. Adhere to all safety protocols during blasting and handling of explosives to ensure personal and peer safety. Guide equipment such as loaders and bulk explosives trucks to proper blast hole locations.
  • Documentation and Communication: Complete all required company documentation daily, including reports on blasts and explosive usage. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to confirm task specifications and safety checks.
  • Operational Support and Improvement: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of blasting materials and supplies. Monitor the inventory of explosives and related supplies. Regularly inspect equipment and tools to ensure optimal working condition. Participate in analysis of blast outcomes and collaborate to identify areas for improvement.

    Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • BC Mines Surface Blaster Certification (2nd or 3rd Class)
  • 2-5 years blasting experience within mining or similar heavy industrial environments.
  • Valid Drivers License, with experience operating vehicles in mining or heavy industrial environments under various weather conditions.

    Technical Competencies & Skills

  • Able to work 12-hour shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
  • Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labour and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, demonstrated ability to adapt to environmental challenges.
  • High level of safety awareness, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across various departments.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

    Wage and Benefits

    Conuma Resources is proud to offer industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package. Hourly rates for Blasters ranges from $40.03 to $43.02 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among several other perks
