    This is recreation leadership work implementing a variety of social, cultural or recreational activities within Edmonds Community Centre, including services for youth and in supervising part-time staff, contractual instructors and volunteers engaged in related tasks.

    Duties are performed within established program guidelines but some independent action and initiative is exercised.

    The Recreation Leader prepares and leads individual program plans; promotes interest and participation in program activities, events or festivals, and establishes and maintains close liaison with community groups and the general public; enforces rules and regulations and ensures that required standards of behaviour and safety are maintained; assumes responsibility for the operation and security of a Recreation Centre on assigned shifts and/or in absence of a supervisor; and performs related work as required.


    Qualifications include completion of two year Community Recreation program from a recognized Community College and some related experience, or completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in recreation and sound related community recreation experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Sound knowledge of the recreational, social, and cultural interests and requirements and resources of the Centre.

    Ability to participate in the recruitment of and gives guidance to one or more part-time recreation program staff and contractual instructors; ability to organize, coordinate, participate in and provide leadership in program activities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractual instructors, volunteers, groups, associations and the general public; and ability to prepare and maintain records, reports and promotional material related to the work.

    A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia, First Aid Certificate, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate – Level C are required.

    Schedule: 56 hours bi-weekly; Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (0.80 FTE)
