Central Zone Health Information Management (HIM) at Alberta Health Services is seeking a Manager, HIM - Central Zone.

This position is a key leadership role in HIM and reports directly to the Director, HIM - Central Zone.

The Manager, HIM - Central Zone is responsible and accountable for providing the management, leadership and organization over the activities of the HIM services at Red Deer Regional Hospital and Central Zone for Registration, Switchboard, Patient Information (RSPI), Health Information/Records Management (HIRM) and Data Collection teams.

This position also plays a key leadership role in the transformation and execution of technology enabled business processes or e-HIM, transitioning from site and zone-based practices to standardized provincial workflows within Connect Care and other 3rd party systems across AHS.

As AHS is in the midst of transition to a single provincial Clinical Information System (CIS), this position will play a key role in leading teams through change, assessing and realigning workflows in alignment with provincial standards and work queues, rebalancing workloads and human resources in a nimble and responsive manner that meets the needs of HIM and AHS.

The role is future oriented, requires a high tolerance of ambiguity, a strong ability to connect and communicate with a diverse cadre of key partners and mobilize limited resources and team members to deliver results, manage and support a high quality, data driven service supporting AHS' provincial sites/programs.

You will bring focus, engage team members, support and empower growth within the team and keep individuals accountable for achieving results.

You possess a progressive background in leadership and team effectiveness, coaching, mentorship and leading change. Your role as a leader is to support and empower others and improve peoples' day-to-day experiences at work.

Required Qualifications:

A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. A minimum of bachelor's degree in health information management or other healthcare-related business degree.

A minimum of - 7 years supervisory or management experience in a Health Informatics/Health Information Management role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity required.

Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Graduate of a Health Information Program recognized by the Canadian Health Information Management/Canadian College of Health Information Management with current credential status.

Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.

Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals with an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector.
