Geological Technician - Core Cutter

We are seeking a hardworking, dependable person to fulfill the role of
Geological Technician
***The
Geological Technician will be responsible for geotechnical logging of drill core, cutting drill core using a rock saw and bagging and tagging drill core samples to later be sent to a laboratory for various analytical element testing. The individual will be working within a team as well as individually to ensure proper sampling procedures are followed and maintained as the drill core gets logged, cut, processed and packaged up for the lab.

This position calls for the ability to lift and carry heavy core boxes, stand on your feet for long periods of time, be able to follow number sequences and to wear a proper fit-tested respirator.

Previous experience splitting drill core and the ability to use a rock saw would be an asset, although not mandatory.

Commitment to workplace safety is mandatory for this position.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Operation and maintenance of an automated diamond blade core saw
• Following sequential numbering systems for core sampling
• Accurate record keeping and basic file management
• Checking QAQC (Quality Assurance Quality Control) samples for dispatch
• Moving stacks of core boxes using a pallet jack and loading/unloading boxes of core by hand
• Shelving and stacking core boxes on pallets as directed in proper order
• Maintaining facility inventory and letting management know what to order/restock
• Organizing cutting room, core logging area, and core lay down area
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work environment

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Able to physically meet the requirement for the position including: standing for long time periods, heavy lifting (4070lbs) and repetitive tasks (crouching, bending, kneeling and lifting)
• Capability of wearing a proper fittested respirator when cutting core (cleanshaven face)
• Safetyconscious mentality and the ability to stay focused and attentive
• Ability to work on a remote site and on a rotationbased schedule
• Ability to work with numbers and sequences in order is mandatory
• Selfmotivated, able to complete tasks with mínimal supervision

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Valid G driver's license or equivalent
• Pallet Jack/Forklift Operator license is an asset but not mandatory
• Previous work experience in mineral exploration and/or production geology is an asset but not mandatory
