Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, normally acquired through enrolment in a Health and Safety, Science, Engineering, or equivalent program.


Familiarity with health and safety-related regulations, codes, and standards, such as CSA standards and practices pertinent to industrial and healthcare workplaces; construction projects; and ergonomics.

Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation.

Computer skills using software such as Microsoft Office and a document management system.


Ability to read and interpret health and safety legislation, codes, standards, and practices; conduct research and understand scientific studies and other technical documents; and translate technical information into plain language.


Ability to assist with the writing of policies and procedures, advice and instruction on various topics, including reports, proposals, articles, and statistical analyses from a health and safety perspective, involving precise use of language.

Ability to travel to locations within Waterloo Region.

Ability to support and demonstrate the Region's values.


Please Note:

- secondary level, though not full-time students, are eligible for related student employment opportunities, where an appropriate match exists i.e. full-time employee in Community Services taking part-time courses to become a caseworker is eligible for a summer student caseworker position.
