    Who We Are

    SFU Sustainability (SFUS) is the central coordinating hub for SFU's contributions under the broader banner of "environment" including sustainability, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and climate change. Through the Embedding Sustainability and Climate Action (ESCA) framework, SFUS provides strategic and tailored support to amplify and scale student, faculty, and staff initiatives across the institution both on campus and beyond into local and global communities. Our core services include support for fundraising and development, highlighting synergies between different areas of the university, convening partners, planning integration, amplifying success stories, submitting successes to global rankings, hosting events, and delivering education and training.

    About the Role

    The Grants and Development Facilitator is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of SFU's University-wide Climate and Sustainability Initiative grants and fundraising efforts. The role is responsible for interpreting and understanding the interests and priorities of individuals and groups through stakeholder outreach and networks as it relates to climate and sustainability at SFU to identify funding sources (including grants), monitor funding initiatives, and prepare funding applications. The role sources and obtains funding to support SFU's climate and sustainability programming, drafts communication tools and presentations to demonstrate the alignment of activities to the SFU's climate and sustainability goals and purpose and produces quantitative and qualitative reports for a range of uses.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business, Sustainability or a related discipline and three years of directly related experience, including the development, writing, editing and review of successful grant proposals, elevating research profiles, data collection/ management and analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of successful grant application procedures and granting agency requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of research life cycle and collaborative projects (e.g., research application processes, budgets).
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organizational, research, report writing, and copy-editing skills.
  • Ability to work on materials and grant proposal content from diverse areas.
