Scope of Position
The Mobile Mortgage Advisor position offers a unique opportunity for an independent, highly motivated and results driven individual.

Primarily, you will be tasked with securing residential mortgage business through internal referrals from the retail branch network (including marketing lead lists and contact centre referrals).

As well you will grow your business through your diverse network of external contacts while creating strong member relationships for referral to our retail branch network.


Your business development initiatives will target referrals from realtors, home builders, financial planners, and other centers of influence in the community.

You will work closely with the Region Head and Regional Director / Manager to develop and implement your own annual business plan to meet your monthly sales targets and ultimately your annual sales goals.

You will be compensated by our total rewards program including but not limited to a competitive fixed plus variable compensation program for the first six months then moving into a variable commissions based comp model.


Key Responsibilities

  • To meet the unique needs of each Member you will provide sound credit recommendations and solutions
  • Proactively build solid working partnerships with branch teams and support departments to facilitate the transition of new business
  • Develop and close mortgage and home equity line of credit referrals from realtors, builders, lawyers, accountants, financial planners and other centres of influence
  • Meet with members to assist them in achieving their mortgage needs and actively refer to branch/partners to deepen the relationship
  • Develop relationships with centres of influence in the community and maintain existing relationships to develop a large referral network
  • Attend local business events to promote Alterna in the community
  • Participate in annual objective setting and regular coaching sessions
  • Probe to identify member needs and opportunities and provide solutions or refer to appropriate team members to meet those needs.

Expectations / Outcomes

  • Increase Alterna's overall mortgage book of business as measured by retention statistics, and new sales growth goals
  • Responsible to attain individual targets for sales and referrals as mutually agreed upon in the annual performance planning cycle, including the sale of CUMIS creditor insurance
  • Increase the visibility within the community of our mortgage offer and solutions as well as products and services offered through our retail branch network
  • Increase Alterna's book of business through new and existing clients
  • Leveraging your skills in consultative sales, you will provide exceptional level of service and advice to new members introduced to Alterna Savings Credit Union
  • Ensuring all credit transactions are documented, accurately, compliant and completed in a timely and professional manner

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification / Experience

  • Postsecondary education combined with 710 years in a similar role in a financial institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum 3 years complex credit experience including the analysis, approving and/or recommending of credit.
  • Extensive knowledge of processing/procedures of complex credit products including secured lines of credit, mortgages, and multiunit residential mortgages (less than 6 doors)
  • A minimum of 35 years of financial advisory experience and demonstrated relationship building experience. Proven track record in sales and relationship building
  • You must have access to a vehicle as you will be required to travel between assigned territory branches and to meet at offsite locations with members/clients as necessary
  • Flexibility to work variable hours including evenings and weekends
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all Alterna's products and services and their related features and benefits in order to deepen and enhance member relationships
  • CSC or IFIC course is an asset but not a requirement for the role
