Volunteer Management Specialist

About this Opportunity
GGC has a volunteer membership of 15,000. The Volunteer Management Specialist's ultimate goal is to be the resident expert on volunteer performance & management.

They develop guidelines and coaching to senior volunteers in volunteer management roles on how to encourage exceptional performance and how to manage performance issues.

They are also the resident expert on volunteerism and its trends, both internal and external to Girl Guides.

They use their knowledge and expertise to recommend strategies to the organization and to develop, implement, and continuously improve effective procedures, resources and tools that support members on performance management.


Responsibilities include:


Membership support

  • Manage the development and implementation of performance guidelines for adult members and volunteers
  • Develop and implement ongoing training and learning support on coaching and performance management for GGC's senior volunteers
  • Provide advice and coaching support to senior volunteers on performance development and management and other topics related to volunteer management
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Engagement Team on trainings and other learning opportunities for senior volunteers
  • Work with other membership staff to develop insights on drivers of satisfaction and report to internal networks to inform actions and strategies that drive retention in adult members
  • Develop strategic communications to support volunteer performance and coaching, specifically contributing to publications for senior volunteers
  • Develop and monitor the typical GGC adult member lifecycle to support and inform the design of programs and processes at the organization
  • Understand membership statistics and make recommendations for improving data requirements to support ongoing projects; provide support to data analyst, when required
  • Monitor trends and best practices in volunteer management and volunteerism to share with network of volunteer managers at the organization and provide input on programs and activities at GGC
  • Maintain membership policies and procedures and support the development of new ones as needed including performance management and other volunteer management related topics
  • Support the creation of volunteer position descriptions and assessment of existing ones for improvements and updates
  • In collaboration with Learning and Development staff support the creation of a learning journey for specific volunteer roles
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge concerning the membership database (iMIS) to access information and generate reports

Administration

  • Contribute to the development of the Member Relations department budget and monitor project expenses, as required
  • Actively contribute to the short, medium, and longterm planning of the Member Relations department and GGC's strategic plan implementation
  • Volunteer or membership management experience
  • Experience designing and facilitating coaching and training sessions
  • Experience designing and executing retention strategies and campaigns
  • Experience analyzing, synthesizing and reporting data
  • Strong copywriting skills with a specific focus on a volunteer audience
  • Experience and excellence in analyzing data and deriving insights for recommendations
  • Skilled at influencing stakeholders to adopt recommendations for supporting senior volunteers
  • Exceptional at creating reports and PowerPoint presentations to share data in a clear and compelling manner
  • Proficient in the Office 365 suite including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.

Starting Salary:
$67,789

*Salary based on location, Greater Toronto Area
