    Position: Sprinkler Fitter – Fireman
    Location: Kapuskasing Papermill, ON

    GreenFirst is looking for a Sprinkler Fitter – Fireman to lay out, install, repair, maintain, modify, inspect and test fire protection systems in a variety of settings. This position also offers the opportunity for an on-site Apprenticeship for candidates that are interested in pursuing a career in this field.

    Responsibilities :

    • Perform preventative maintenance on mill, pumphouse and related equipment monitored by the Fireman.

    • Fabricate, inspect, install, and repair equipment, provide analysis, and evaluate concerns and major repairs.

    • Adhere to "GreenFirst Code Of Ethics" and treat fellow workers with dignity and respect.

    • Report and address environmental spills immediately

    • Maintain Papermill Housekeeping Standards. Fill out pre-job checklist for every new job on a daily basis.

    • Facilitate execution of Fire/Hot Work Permits

    • Ensure all lock outs are identified and all procedures are followed and ensure all mill safety policies are being followed

    • Inspect pump house and equipment, deluge systems and alarms, inspect and adjust sprinkler dry valve pre-action valve and air pad system, jockey fire pump in south boiler house basement, fire hose stations, fire hydrants, PIV valves, sprinkler shut off valves, fire doors, inside valves,

    • Test fire pumps, sprinkler alarms and flow alarms

    • Repair fire extinguishers, maintain inventory of fire extinguishers and sprinkler supplies

    • Check diesel fire pump fuel tank. Shovel outside PIV, pump house and hydrants in winter

    • Ship out SCBA and fire extinguishers for hydro testing, also refill SCBA air bottles and sanitize masks; send air sample for testing

    • Winterize equipment and hydrant flushing. Flush dry systems

    • Clean pump house screen and replace wind socks, flags. Change sprinkler heads

    • Annual dry valve trip testing

    • Fit test employees for appropriate masks

    • Provide emergency response to equipment failures

    • Respond to fire calls

    • Reports to Mechanical Supervisor, indirectly reports to Health and Safety Superintendent for plant protection.

    • Identify training opportunities.

    Requirements :

    • Preference given to candidates holding one or more of the following certificates: Sprinkler and Fire Protection Shower Installer 427A, Steam Fitter 307A, Plumber 306A

    • 1-3 Years relevant experience in an industrial setting

    GreenFirst est à la recherche d'un(e) monteur(euse) de gicleurs – pompier(ère) pour mettre en place, installer, réparer, entretenir, modifier, inspecter et tester des systèmes de protection contre les incendies dans divers contextes. Ce poste offre également la possibilité d'un apprentissage sur site pour les candidats intéressés par une carrière dans ce domaine.

    Responsabilités :

    • Effectuer l'entretien préventif du moulin, de la station de pompage et de l'équipement connexe surveillé par le pompier.

    • Fabriquer, inspecter, installer et réparer des équipements, fournir des analyses et évaluer les problèmes et les réparations majeures.

    • Adhérer au code de déontologie de GreenFirst et traiter ses collègues avec dignité et respect.

    • Signaler et traiter immédiatement les déversements dans l'environnement

    • Respecter les normes d'entretien ménager de la papeterie

    • Remplir quotidiennement la liste de contrôle préalable à chaque nouveau travail.

    • Faciliter l'exécution des permis de feu et de travail à chaud.

    • S'assurer que tous les dispositifs de verrouillage sont identifiés et que toutes les procédures sont suivies, et veiller à ce que toutes les politiques de sécurité de l'usine soient respectées.

    • Inspecter la station de pompage et l'équipement, les systèmes de déluge et les alarmes, inspecter et ajuster les vannes sèches des sprinklers, les vannes de préaction et le système de coussins d'air, la pompe à incendie dans le sous-sol de la chaufferie sud, les stations de tuyaux d'incendie, les bouches d'incendie, les vannes PIV, les vannes d'arrêt des sprinklers, les portes coupe-feu, les vannes intérieures,

    • Tester les pompes à incendie, les alarmes de sprinklers et les alarmes de débit. Fournir une réponse d'urgence en cas de défaillance de l'équipement

    • Réparer les extincteurs, maintenir l'inventaire des extincteurs et du matériel d'arrosage.

    • Vérifier le réservoir de carburant de la pompe à incendie diesel. Pelleter l'extérieur de la PIV, de la station de pompage et des bouches d'incendie en hiver.

    • Expédier les appareils respiratoires autonomes et les extincteurs pour les tests hydrauliques, remplir les bouteilles d'air des appareils respiratoires autonomes et désinfecter les masques ; envoyer des échantillons d'air pour les tests.

    • Hivernage des équipements et rinçage des bouches d'incendie. Rincer les systèmes secs.

    • Nettoyer le tamis de la station de pompage et remplacer les manches à air et les drapeaux.

    • Test annuel de déclenchement des vannes sèches. Remplacement des têtes de gicleurs

    • Procéder à des essais d'ajustement des masques des employés.

    • Répondre aux appels d'incendie.

    • Rendre compte au superviseur de la mécanique, indirectement au surintendant de la santé et de la sécurité pour la protection de l'usine.

    • Identifier les possibilités de formation.

    Exigences :

    • La préférence est donnée aux candidats titulaires d'un ou de plusieurs des certificats suivants : Installateur de gicleurs et de douches anti-incendie 427A, Monteur de vapeur 307A, Plombier 306A.

    • 1 à 3 ans d'expérience pertinente dans un environnement industriel
