    Position Title: Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator AssistantLocation: West Sechelt YMCA Child Care, 5609 Mason Road, Sechelt BC
    Terms: Full-Time: 35 hours/week
    Shift: Monday to Friday, shifts rotating between 8:00am – 5:00pm Rate:
    Early Childhood Educator: $23.20 per hour for ECE License. Plus an additional $6 per hour for Licensed ECE's as per the Provincial Government's Wage Enhancement Initiative
    Early Childhood Educator Assistant: $21 per hour for ECE Assistant LicenseStart Date: As soon as possible

    Reports To:Team Lead, Child Care

    Nature & Scope:

    We are seeking a caring and creative Early Childhood Educator to provide a safe and engaging experience for all children at the YMCA. Following the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, the educator plans and leads activities based on the interests and the developmental level of the children in our care.

    Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality care and creative programming to children
  • Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families
  • Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families
  • Deliver high quality and age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
  • Provide active supervision at all times and work as a team to support transitions between play areas
  • Use our parent communication app (Weemarkable) to provide daily communication and updates
  • Keep a clean and safe environment – in all program areas and common spaces (with enhanced cleaning protocols for COVID-19)
  • Follow all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL) and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards

    • Qualifications/Experience:

  • Basic ECE certification from a program recognized in British Columbia
  • Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) License is an asset
  • Special Needs Educator (SNE) is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Any training related to child growth and development is an asset
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate required (can be obtained with in 30 days after start date)
  • 3 professional reference checks to be completed
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
