Position Summary:

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

- providing one-on-one and small group support in literacy and learning strategies
- assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher
- supporting students in a Division III Interactions Program
- assisting students with communication, social interaction, behaviour and academic skills
- providing coverage in the office, library and school store as needed
- assisting students with personal care including toileting
- lifting

Education/Qualifications:

- a two year post secondary program in a related field
- a minimum of two years of related experience preferably in an educational environment
- experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
- experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges and physical/medical disabilities
- proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
- excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
