The University of Niagara Falls Canada is a subsidiary of GUS Canada and part of the Global University Systems (GUS) network.

Primary Purpose


The Registrar is a member of the University's leadership team and Academic Council, and works with the domestic and international enrolment teams, the academic enterprise, and directly with students to make critical contributions to overall institutional success.


The Registrar develops and implements plans, policies, processes, and systems supporting the efficient and effective acceptance, admission, and registration of students; maintains accurate student records including grades and transcripts; finalizes classroom schedules; directs graduation audits and elements of convocation; and undertakes other related functions.

The Registrar leads and measures Registrar' Office (RO) activities and closely collaborates with other University divisions in advancing the University and enhancing the student experience.


Specific Responsibilities

Strategic Decision Making and Leadership

  • Responsible for driving the implementation and development of strategic initiatives to guide UNF's operational units in accordance with our mission, vision, and academic plan.
  • Holds a deep commitment to the wellbeing and development of students and to the evolution of education.
  • Provides strong leadership, developmental guidance, and support to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Possesses leadership and intercultural skills that are inclusive and promote diversity across our campus and in the UNF community.
  • In collaboration with the GUS Canada CTO and GUS Canada IT (who oversee the technical management of the Student Information Systems), the UNF Registrar provides strategic leadership and direction to ensure effective operational management, quality, and performance of the Student Information System, the transition to Ellucian Colleague, and for the accuracy and security of all student records.
  • Develops policies and procedures for the future administration of the student awards program.
  • Promotes teamwork, inclusivity, and collaboration within the studentbody and wider university community.
  • Creates new policy drafts for submission to the appropriate committees.

Operational Leadership

  • Supports a culture that embraces growth and innovation by encouraging the implementation of new initiatives to better support students and staff.
  • In consultation with faculties and academic units, develops effective admission and retention practices.
  • Ensures compliance with policies for admission, student records, academic standing registration, examinations, grading, and graduation.
  • Upholds the integrity of student data and complies with privacy legislation.
  • Assists academic departments in the logístical management of class scheduling and ensuring the efficient use of classroom space.
  • Supervises the production of the print and web versions of the University Calendar.
  • Collaborates professionally with Registrars and Enrolment Service Directors across Canada.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Prepares, administers, and controls a complex budget by monitoring and allocating expenditures with competing priorities.
  • Leads preparation of departmental Key Performance Indicator reports.
  • Provides recommendations and supports budgetary decisions across the Office of the Registrar portfolio.

Position Requirements

  • Seven or more years handson leadership experience in a Registrar's Office at a college or university.
  • A thorough understanding of university governance.
  • Excellent planning, coordination, and delegation skills.
