Responsibilities:


  • Maintain proactive, positive and constructive employee relationships within a unionized environment;
  • Works collaboratively with various supervisors on various shifts to achieve the departments objectives;
  • Fostering positive relationships with various departments (surgeons, nurses, porters, clerks, supervisors and managers);
  • Plans and manages workload assignments, provides support, coaching and performance management;
  • Contributes to or leads special projects including cost savings, process and system improvements;
  • Evaluates staff with Performance Appraisals;
  • Complete daily audits for safety and ensuring everyone is following the proper procedures;
  • Provides input into our strategic planning, budgeting and continual improvement;
  • Checks in daily with Operating Room charge nurses to ensure all needs are meet.

What you will do:

TOH is looking for a an experienced, people and patient focused leader to join our medical device reprocessing team.

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Device Reprocessing, the supervisor is an expert at building relationships from their front line staff to all stakeholders and is keep to contribute to change.

The supervisor will be an open communicator who follow up on all requests in a timely manner and who provides realistic timeliness when communicating with our clients, setting clear obtainable objectives for our staff.

The supervisor will conduct audits designed to impart in safe work practices aligned with efficiency and customer service in an open and transparent manner with staff.

This supervisor will balance compassion with accountability, setting a standard of excellence in which we can continue to deliver world class care to patients in our community.


This role is a great opportunity for those who want to branch out from the traditional supervisor / team lead role to a fast paced and complex world in healthcare providing support to improve the way we care for patients in our community.

The supervisor will lead and provide support to team of 15-20 technicians per shift. The supervisor manages the priorities and services we provide for our surgical procedures and outpatient clinics.

The supervisor is also a key member of our management team and contributes to our overall strategy development, as well as our team development and staff safety.


Basic Requirements:


  • Successful completion of a College Diploma program or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Previous supervisory experience or two (2) years experience in sterile processing;
  • Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO) course or an equivalent course/certification related to sterile processing;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to set workload priorities;
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment;
  • Knowledge of collective agreements;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Community College Diploma in Business Administration or Materials Management;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
