Subcontract Manager

What is the project?
A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River). The scope of the Project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tube of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for: 1 station at grade and 6 underground stations) and civil works

What you will do:

Manage assigned subcontracts engineers, subcontracts coordinators and subcontracts administrators, and other subcontracting and purchasing employees interfacing with engineering management, estimating management, design professionals, and project management.

Duties also include but are not limited to:

negotiating with equipment and material suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers, while consulting with project legal counsel and senior management when necessary.

Concretely, your tasks will be:

Identify Prime contract flow down requirements to develop project templates.
Oversee all subcontracting related activities on the project
Complete escalated contract negotiations and change orders through closeout and warranty completion.
Develop and maintain project procurement strategy and plans for all aspects of subcontracting from project award to closeout.
Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with equipment suppliers, material suppliers, professional service providers, and subcontractors, while consulting with project legal counsel and senior management to minimize project and corporate risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
Monitors and oversees procurement contract execution and management for engineered equipment and material contracts, professional service providers, and subcontractors.
Oversee assigned staff training.
Communicate and enforce subcontracting policies & procedures to project team.
Responsible for projections, input to financial planning, expediting, delivery schedules and project purchasing reporting.

Who we are looking for:

MBA/MBS in business, engineering, supply chain, construction management or equivalent is an asset
Relevant experience in engineering/construction field
Knowledge of equipment and materials common in Design and Build projects
Knowledge of Canadian construction Industry and Ontario Construction Act
Team player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals and objectives.
Strong leadership and people management skills
Advanced knowledge in risk evaluation, claims mitigation and dispute resolution
