PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Foundational Learning and Skills Development (FLSD)

Unit in the Government of Alberta's ministry of Advanced Education is looking for a Financial Analyst to help provide some critical analysis for our two programs:
Foundational Learning Assistance (FLA) Program and the Community Adult Learning Program (CALP).

For the FLA Program, we require Budget Analysis, Living Allowance Analysis, Demographic Analysis, and Outcome data analysis for our program.

Examples of analysis required include areas such as average cost per client, profiles of our client, and reviewing outcome survey data for our clients.

Analysis of raw data as well as dashboard data will be required for this project.

We will also require some work for CALP that will require an environmental scan of similar programs and services.

You will be able to join and exciting and dynamic team that oversees funding for two programs with a budget of $120 million that supports over 20,000 Albertans with their foundational learning needs.

ADDITIONAL DELIVERY DETAILS

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Duties will include but not limited to:

Prepare non-complex journal entries.
Assist in preparation of month end reporting, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations.
Assist in budget preparation.
Support variance analysis and investigate abnormalities.
Assists routine duties and preparation of working papers and financial statements.
Review and analyze accruals.
Identify and implement process improvements.
Analyze and interpret financial information.
Work with business entities to gather and disseminate information for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
Reconcile and prepare GST/HST.
Update department financial policies and procedures.
Other duties as required.

MANDATORY SKILLS
M1. The proposed resource must have demonstrated experience in Financial Analysis (4+ years)

M2. The proposed resource must have demonstrated experience in data analysis (2+ years)

D1. The proposed resource should have demonstrated experience in summarizing financial information for leadership (2+ years)

D2. The proposed resource should have demonstrated experience in developing summaries of financial information into presentations (e.g. PowerPoint (2+ years)

D3. The proposed resource should have demonstrated experience in financial cost analysis and average cost (2+ years)

D4. The proposed resource should have demonstrated experience reviewing and analyzing outcome survey data (2+ years)
