    Supporting the Strategy team, this position plays an integral role in supporting the advancement of the Ontario Health's mandate to deliver an integrated health care system. It does this by designing and executing projects and deliverables that will advance strategic priorities for Ontario Health's CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

    The Strategy Advisor will contribute to this work through:

  • Facilitating the development of strategic options to advance Ontario Health's mandated priorities, including improving the integration of Ontario's healthcare system and improving access and quality of care for Ontarians.
  • Leading complex analysis and stakeholder engagement programs and preparing clear and compelling findings and recommendations for senior Ontario Health leadership that will influence decision making.
  • Forging strong relationships across Ontario Health's various functions that will enable effective collaboration and ensure our team consistently finds ways to enhance our value to the Agency.

    Here is what you will be doing:

    Leadership:

  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of project work and supporting other team members in executing on their deliverables.
  • Planning, organizing and participating in internal and external working groups and advisory committees, ensuring tracking of action items and follow-ups.
  • Developing productive partnerships with program areas across Ontario Health and with external stakeholders and organizations.
  • Supporting a high performing team with a highly engaged team culture of respect, inclusiveness, learning, support and collaboration.
  • Championing Ontario Health's organizational values of inclusion, diversity and anti-racism and promoting these within the team.
  • Problem Solving:

  • Taking an action-oriented approach to understanding and assessing ambiguous challenges and generating potential approaches.
  • Using a structured, logical approach to articulate problem statements and to clarify objectives, assumptions, and principles with senior Ontario Health leadership.
  • Leverage exceptional problem-solving skills to generate clear, hypothesis-driven workplans to address these issues for our business partners.
  • Managing the execution of workplans including sequencing activities and interdependencies; proactively identifying, managing and escalating issues and risks as needed.
  • Conducting work on multiple projects and assignments, shifting and adapting work in response to changes in program priorities and timelines
  • Analysis & Communications

  • Determining analytical approaches that will efficiently test hypotheses and inform recommendations; working with business partners to collect required information and conduct analysis.
  • Engage subject matter experts and leaders from across the various Ontario Health portfolios, as well as external stakeholders as required (leading informant interviews and facilitating workshops) to develop and inform strategic options and planning approaches.
  • Developing compelling communications materials and presenting findings to key decision makers within Ontario Health's senior leadership team and within external partners (e.g., MOH) to inform and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Leveraging superb analytical and communication skills to build alignment and consensus across Ontario Health and its system partners related to complex issues.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

  • Developing close working relationships with senior Ontario Health leaders to advance planning on strategic priorities and ensure that our team's activities are contributing to and enabling the successful realization of these priorities.
  • Engaging external stakeholders including the Ministry of Health as required in order to advance strategic priorities and support the successful translation of policy objectives to implementation.
  • Seeking opportunities to enhance the value that our team brings to the Agency and presenting these to the team.
  • Here is what you will need to be successful:

    Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate Degree required, preferably in Health Policy, Law, Business, Administration, or another relevant discipline.
  • A Masters Level Degree in these fields would be an asset.
  • A minimum of six (6) years' experience in policy, strategy or planning role.
  • Work experience in health care is preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Proven leadership capabilities (including through influencing colleagues who were not direct reports).
  • Proven comfort with ambiguous mandates / challenges.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and skilled at presenting complex concepts clearly and effectively for senior leaders.
  • Skilled in creating products (e.g., papers, reports, presentations, diagrams) for multiple internal and external audiences.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation of group consensus and decision making.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect.
  • Proven ability in project management, with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking, and negotiating skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a variety of team situations.
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to use a variety of software programs (including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
