Description

The Galiano Health Care Center is looking for a locum Family Physician for a complex Rural community, August 21 to August 25, 2023.

Locum Dates are Flexible - Could also be August 28-September 1 week OR a few days each week up to 5 days total.

The locum Physician, will work in the clinic, with the support of the MOAs, with 20 minute appointments per patient, as well as be the Emergency walk-in physician if necessary.

The first morning of the locum will be blocked off for orientation with the MOAs, and will include a tour, narcotic count and general information about the clinic.

The last afternoon will include ample administration time. You will also provide evening/overnight on-call on designated dates.

Clinic Description
One 0.5 FTE Physician, 1.0 Nurse Practitioner day/wk Home & Community Care Nurse. 2 exam rooms, 1 Emerg Room, 2 offices, and 2 MOAs.

Local Resources
A phlebotomist avail on Thursday for 4 hours.

There is one Mental Health & Addictions counselor (employed by VIHA) up to 2 days/week but serves Galiano and Salt Spring.

2 RMTs and one physiotherapist rent rooms casually. A dentist comes once a week.

Emergency Framework

Call Expectations
Rotating on call via MOCAP Program. Weekday on call will be one day that week but exact date not known yet. Locums must use their own cell phones. No pager.
