Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced tax professional to support our tax footprint in the U.S. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of the evolution of our tax function.

The Tax Associate will support the Tax Manager and play a key internal consultant role, working closely with business partners and the senior tax leaders to provide strong tax support and execution to ensure that enterprise tax risk and compliance obligations are managed appropriately.

You will assist in the management of CPP Investments' tax function, including ensuring CPP Investments and its subsidiaries meet all U.S.

tax compliance obligations including income tax, withholding tax, and indirect taxes and related matters for the U.S.


Role-specific Accountabilities:


  • Lead and manage the outsourcing of US income, indirect and withholding tax filing processes, collaborating with external advisors to ensure compliance with US tax regulations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and establish effective communication channels between the tax department and internal core services groups
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external advisors, ensuring timely and accurate provision of tax data and documentation
  • Assist in the management of tax audits and examinations, interacting with tax authorities and external advisors to resolve tax compliance issues
  • Monitor changes in U.S. tax laws and regulations, evaluating their impact on CPP Investments and providing guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the enhancement of tax processes, controls, and documentation, including the implementation of new technology within the tax function
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support enterprisewide initiatives and objectives

Qualifications:


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent professional designation
  • Minimum 5 years of tax experience; US tax experience is an asset
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including ability to work cooperatively with many different stakeholders and manage outside tax advisors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an understanding of emerging workplace communication, collaboration tools and technology
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Experience working in crossfunctional teams across a scaling global organization to achieve operational excellence
  • Flexibility and adaptability and offhours support relating to transactions, projects, and team members
