Summary:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Manager, Distribution Finance for the Metro Ontario Inc.

Distribution Centres (DC) and Transportation in the daily, weekly, and period end reporting of financial and statistical information relating to both Logistics and Distribution.


Specific Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and distribute weekly and periodic financial reports to senior management (Finance, Transportation and DC Operations).
  • Update and maintain statistical and financial databases related to both Logistics and Distribution Operations, and report on such information.
  • Report monthly statistics to Health & Safety department on employee lost time accidents.
  • Coordinate processing of vendors billings and receivable billings for Transportation and Distribution.
  • Work closely with Transportation Operations as well as Toronto and Ottawa DCs to analyze financial results.
  • Prepare periodic journal entries and G/L account analysis.
  • Provide variance details to Internal and External Auditors as required.
  • Perform analysis of periodend transportation expenses and variances to budget and prior years.
  • Prepare billings to carriers for freight claims and damages.
  • Prepare the weekly transportation charges for the Affiliate stores.
  • Coordinate with A/P, A/R, DC and Transportation to respond to internal or external billing inquiries.
  • Assist with special project work as required, such as budgets, forecasting, analysis, and annual initiatives.
  • Compile Transportation budget information and assist in constructing the Metro Ontario Inc. divisional budget and forecast.

Qualifications:


  • College diploma or University studies in Finance/Accounting.
  • Actively working towards or have an Accounting Designation an asset.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent business writing skills.
  • Strong financial math and analytical skills.
