Where You Come In
We are looking for a
summer intern to join our People & Culture team at Make-A-Wish Canada.

We are looking for a driven, energetic, and creative student who enjoys collaboration, research and has fresh ideas Working with the P&C team and reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture, you will gain valuable, real-world HR experience as well as provide the team with administrative and creative support.

This role can be based out of our offices in
Pickering or Toronto (North York).

This role is a summer internship at 4 days (30 hours) per week, Monday to Thursday, and is on a hybrid schedule.

What You Will Do

  • Support the recruitment process:
  • Create job descriptions, post jobs, remove inactive jobs from job boards.
  • Conduct references checks, coordinate background checks.
  • Assist HR team with onboarding activities for new hires:
  • Review new hire paperwork for accuracy.
  • Assist with data entry of employee information into our new HRIS system that is set to launch this fall.
  • Assist with the design and setup of the home page of the new HRIS system.
  • Learn about the organization's HR policies and employee benefits to be able to respond to internal staff inquiries.
  • Conduct research for various HR initiatives, policies, processes, and training as needed.
  • Assist with the rollout of new HR initiatives:
  • Assist in creating internal trainings for managers and employees.
  • Support the growth of our onboarding program by contributing ideas & suggestions.
  • Assist in the creation of communication documents and PowerPoint presentations for internal meetings.
  • Assist with HR specific projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Education/Certificate in Human Resources Management (or working towards) or general business with an interest in HR.
  • Current student or a recent graduate.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Reliable team player.
  • Excellent written, verbal and organization skills.
  • Curious and eager to learn.
  • Innovative, creative, resourceful, gogetter and selfstarter, you enjoy challenging yourself.
  • Some HR experience is preferred.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check required.

Your Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment: 2 days inoffice per week, 2 days remote.

Physical/Mental Effort

  • Works with multiple demands and changing/overlapping priorities.
  • High degree of responsibility including confidentiality and daytoday operations.
  • Repetitive work.
  • Extended periods of standing, with opportunity to sit down.
