We have an immediate opening for a casual Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Technician / Sterile Supply Technician.


Term:
Casual


Days/Hours of work: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM during weekdays (Monday to Friday) with actual days to be determined. Shifts will be occasional as required by Everywoman's Health Centre's operational requirements.


Job Summary:


  • In line with the standards and requirements as set out by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician will
  • Sterilize surgical/medical equipment and instruments for reuse in surgical procedures
  • Monitor and maintain the autoclave
  • Perform related administrative duties such as monitoring the supply of and ordering surgical and medical equipment as needed

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Wrap surgical/medical equipment and place in autoclave for sterilization, remove post-sterilization and restock shelves
  • Gather and assemble surgical/medical equipment on operating room trays for procedures
  • Remove used surgical/medical equipment from trays post-procedure and clean all equipment, including operating trays and suction apparatus accessories
  • Maintain awareness of sterile fields, keeping separate dirty and clean areas, and maintaining a one-way flow
  • Clean, monitor, and maintain autoclave, including completing any associated documentation
  • Wipe equipment room counters, counter splash and cupboards, and wipe down freezer(s) as needed
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of medical and surgical supplies, order equipment and instruments from suppliers, unpack delivered orders, and restock the OR, lab, and equipment rooms
  • Label specimens and package for pick up, and package biohazard waste for pick up
  • Use appropriate protective equipment to reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals and BBP
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment or supply problems to the Executive Director, and contact relevant suppliers and manufacturers as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Training, and Experience:


  • Successful completion of a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing/Sterile Supply Technician Program
  • Minimum of one year of work experience as a Medical Device Reprocessing/Sterile Supply Technician
  • Experience within a women's health environment is an asset

$27.27-$29.02 per hour
