Annis O'Sullivan Vollebekk (AOV) is a privately-owned, independent, multi-disciplined Professional Land Surveying firm based in the Ottawa area, offering clientele a wide range of services in topographic, hydrographic, cadastral, geodetic and engineering surveys.
In addition to providing a full range of land development consulting services, including severances, subdivision design & layouts, and condominiums projects, AOV also plays a key role in creating strata-ownership and easement limits for multi-use developments and the local LRT initiative.

Primary Purpose
The Systems Network Administrator manages the connectivity of all 8 office locations, and provides support at both the individual and global level to employees of the AOV Group of Companies.
Systems Administration
- Maintain networked servers and interconnectivity for all office locations
- Manage network drives, data bases, storage, and back ups
- Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain operating systems
- Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain hardware and software
- Ensure timely and reliable system administration procedures, such as backup and/or recovery
Basic Support
- Manage software licenses for all sites (AutoCAD, MicroSurvey, Adobe, Microsoft Office 365, Zoom)
- Update and maintain a log of all usernames and passwords
- Main point of contact for all internal software/hardware issues & provide solutions and support as needed
- Manage all office telecommunications
- Conduct software/hardware/security related onboarding and offboarding tasks
- Write user guides and update existing documentation
- Troubleshoot and provide support to users.
- Installing Autocad, InCad
- Restoration of a computer workstation
- Data backup
- Data restoration
- Changing a password
- Device manager update
- Support Hardware maintenance and upgrades
Hardware Management
- Keep an inventory of all equipment by site
- Source and purchase equipment as needed
- Work with Finance to set budgets and plan timelines for major purchases and improvements
Continuous Improvement
- Ongoing evaluation of daily IT operations
- Work with managers, end users to maintain and improve software performance
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain overall IT security
- Update and maintain website(s)
- Update and maintain a log of building alarm codes for personnel
- All employees of AOV are expected to follow health and safety policy, procedures and work practices at all times. Employees are also responsible for the completion of all health and safety training, as assigned. Employees with staff supervision and/or management responsibilities will ensure that assigned staff abide by the above, and actively identify, assess and correct health and safety hazards, as required_
Required Qualifications
Education
- University degree or College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration or equivalent.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years' experience including two to three years' experience implementing advanced solutions (e.g. Cloud computing).
Experience
- 5+ years in a similar role in a growing operation
- Intermediate skill level
- Server admin
- Installing Auto CAD and configuring the software
- Experience with VPN remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Experience with Active Directory and Group Policies.
- Experience with Azure AD, Azure Backup Tools and Microsoft 365 stack.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
