***: Reporting to the Comptroller, the Accounting Analyst is mainly responsible for providing Accounting transactions processing support and various related Financial Analysis. The Accounting Analyst also has responsibilities of reconciling various sub ledgers (including but not limited to SAGE - department /accounts; Banking) to the General Ledger.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Main focus includes Record Supplier / Customer Payments in a timely manner, including updates of the approved expenses/ revenues in the General Ledger system (SAGE);
  • In partnership with the various departments ensure that revenues and expenses are accurately recognized on a timely basis into the General Ledger;
  • Assist the Assistant Comptroller on key control points in the areas of accounts receivable and accounts payable and banking;
  • Work closely with various departments / groups and ensure completeness; adequate approvals, accuracy and timeliness of financial information;
  • Responsible for updating policies and procedures in the accounting department;
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Comptroller.

SUPERVISION REQUIRED:

The Accounting Analyst receives general direction from the Comptroller and in their absence the General Manager.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • High pressure work environment from both an operational and political /institutional perspective;
  • Daily hours of work and full work week are defined in the Employee Manual. Overtime hours may be required, following approval from the Comptroller and the General Manager;
  • Equipment/ On Line Platform used: SAGE (GL), Microsoft Suite, ACCEO, G-Suite, EMS, Google Drive;
  • Hybrid work environment (remote and onsite as needed).

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


  • University/College degree in Accounting and/or Commerce;
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting with demonstrated attention to detail;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Strong computer skills (Intermediate level in Excel);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working remotely and autonomously within a digital accounting environment;
  • Strong knowledge of Zoom and G-Suite is required;
  • Strong time management and organization skills is essential;
  • Competence working in a highpressure work environment is desirable;
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong communication skills both in English and French.

It is understood and agreed that all matters to the SSMU and those clubs association or groups forming part of the SSMU are to be kept in the strictest of confidence, and nothing regarding the operations, policies and general activities of the SSMU or its constituent groups shall be divulged to any third party without the express consent of the General Manager and/or the Executive Committee of the SSMU.


Salary:
$40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
